The shortest week of the year.

Don't you hate that a week at the beach seems like two days and a week at home seems like a month! We returned home yesterday from a fun filled family vacation to Panama City Beach. With 14 of us all together every year, we always have a blast. Drew got a hole in one playing putt-putt for the first time.

He also has mastered jumping into the swimming pool with no arm swimmies and kicking with his face in the water a short distance to the steps. He amazes me constantly at how fast he learns new things. Matt and his brother-in-law, Joel, taught him to roll down the window and wave saying "Ladies, ladies..." Yes, it was funny for a second. I do realize that I have my hands full with this little guy!

Preparing to leave for vacation is no vacation!

Have you ever tried to pack your entire house into two suitcases? Okay, it has turned into more like four suitcases, but who's counting?? Matt will be in about an hour when he has to pack them all into the car. Traveling with a child, for those of you who have none, is like preparing to survive in the wild for a month. You HAVE to take everything.

Yesterday was a busy day, aside from trying to pack for a week long trip. We went to visit my aunt and uncle that we don't see nearly enough. As soon as we pulled into the driveway Drew saw my uncle's car. He said "Look, a REAL corvette!!" He has a Power Wheel Corvette and has started to notice them on the road. I suppose I have another car fanatic on my hands. Matt loves it. Anyway, Drew was thrilled Uncle Ralph let him play in the car and he even took him for a little ride down the street.

Last night Matt and I were honored to be present at the marraige of our high school friend, Tony. He and Ashley seem so happy and I wish nothing but the best for the two of them. The wedding was beautiful and we enjoyed spending time with old friends. Note to self: One glass of wine, is really enough.

Too big for his britches.

Drew went on his first field trip yesterday. I think my nerves were comparable to that of a mother sending her child off to join the army. Excited, but terrified. He's three, for goodness sake. Not only am I a freak about ANYONE driving with him, but he was on a bus. Okay, one of those pre-school buses with the seatbelts and we leave their carseats...but still a bus...that I wasn't driving (not that I would have wanted to drive the bus). They went to a local park, played on the playground and ate their lunches on the picnic tables. He had a blast! Although, he did come home talking about his new friend, Shelby. Hmmmm, already?! Here is Drew about to go on his first field trip.

She's single no more.

Kristen was the most beautiful bride I have ever seen. The wedding went smoothly, considering the temperature in the 90's and Drew actually did well in his ring-bearer debut. He was so handsome in his tux with the pink tie waving to people he knew as I escorted him down the aisle..."Hey Lydia, hey Mandy, hey Popsy..."

He stood at the front with me for about 30 seconds, then snuck to the third row to tell Matt (in his OUTSIDE voice) that he was VERY thirsty! So the sweet dad that he is, Matt took him inside to get a drink and they watched the ceremony from the inside through the windows. This was probably the best place for him, honestly. Good thinking, Dad.
Wedding pictures, wedding pictures and more wedding pictures. Most of them turned out great.Photobucket

And some didn't. I'm not ashamed to admit that being photogenic was not a trait the good Lord blessed me with...however, I will take the credit for these that make us laugh. Well, Ashley gets a little credit in this first one too! :)

Don't worry, I can teach you those dance moves.

Sorry TV, you're fired!

This morning, while the TV was babysitting Drew, he sat at the kitchen bar and ate his oranges...so I thought. I was trying to rush to get ready for work...we were late...again. As I walked out of our bedroom, I smelled something burning. He was exactly where I left him, on his stool watching Little Einsteins. Hmmm...
Then I saw the other stool in front of the counter on the other side of the breakfast bar. I asked why it was there, to which he replied..."I'm cooking cars. It's not ready yet." What??? I thought. Then I heard it...the sound the toaster makes when the bread pops up.
While the TV wasn't paying attention to my child, he pulled the stool around so he could reach the counter and decided to put the "Cars" DVD in the toaster...hey, it sort of resembles a bagel, I guess. Now, I have a cooked (melted) DVD in the bottom of my NEW toaster, my house reeks like burnt metal and my #1 babysitter, the movie "Cars", has died.
